Council’s community planning manager, John Ferguson, said the upgrades form part of Transport for NSW’s Lake Macquarie-Tuggerah Lakes regional boating plan and aim to improve safety and access to the lake.
“The plan includes a funding allocation of about $2 million to carry out improvement works to boating infrastructure around the lake,” Mr Ferguson said.

Projects to receive funding include:
- parking upgrades at Balmoral Reserve, Thomas Humphreys Reserve, Lions Park at Toronto and The Esplanade (Lake Street) boat ramp at Swansea;
- installation of floating pontoons at the TH Halton Park boat ramp at Croudace Bay, and at Sunshine Park boat ramp;
- extension of the Valentine Jetty; and
- installation of dinghy storage racks at various sites around Lake Macquarie, including Marmong Point, Balmoral Reserve and The Esplanade (Lake Street) boat ramp.
The projects have been identified as priorities in council’s aquatic services committee boat ramp rehabilitation program and jetty reconstruction program, Mr Ferguson said.
The works are due by the end of 2017.
