Hobart debutant D'Arcy Short brought the power and Shaun Tait provided the thunderbolts as the Sydney Sixers lost for this first time this season and the Hurricanes emphatically announced themselves as a genuine Big Bash contender.

Short needed only 29 balls for his hard-hitting 61 as he helped Hobart to a hefty 6-200 before Shaun Tait tore through the Sixers' lower order, taking three wickets in six balls at one stage after hurtling down a 153km/h bullet earlier on.
The Sixers were bowled out for 140 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, just three nights after flogging the cross-town Thunder by nine wickets in the Sydney smash.
Captain Moises Henriques sent Hobart in to bat and it proved costly as Short and visiting captain Tim Paine put on 81 runs for the first wicket, the former at one stage on track to post the second-quickest half-century in BBL history.
Once Short departed, Paine took over and finished with 63 himself.
nglish imports Sam Billings and Jason Roy were the most spirited of Sydney's batsmen, the former hitting 42 off 33 balls.
Roy crafted an entertaining 40 from 22 balls and took a particular liking to English super villain Stuart Broad before he was stumped after chasing one out wide from Cameron Boyce, Paine's quick glove work snuffing out any chance Sydney had of completing an unlikely run chase.
"My wicket was exactly what we didn't need, extremely frustrated with that," Roy said.
"I probably sent him a postcard or two before I came down there. It was a stupid shot; he was never going to bowl a ball that was going ot allow me to play that shot.
"That's how it goes in twenty20 - fortune favours the brave. That's the good thing about this game: you always get another chance."
That next chance comes on Tuesday against the Perth Scorchers at the SCG before a trip to Adelaide on New Year's Eve to take on the Strikers.
