FORMER Knights player Daine Laurie is in jail facing charges, including wounding with intent to murder, after two alleged shooting incidents on the north coast last year.

Laurie, a towering prop, signed a second-tier contract with Newcastle in late 2011 after previous stints with Wests Tigers and Penrith.
He trained with Wayne Bennett’s full-time squad during the 2012 pre-season and played in a first-grade trial and several NSW Cup matches.
He also had a stint with Macquarie Scorpions in the district competition.
The 32-year-old appeared in Coffs Harbour Local Court last week on three charges after two alleged shootings in Nambucca Heads, one of which left a 21-year-old man injured.
The two alleged incidents occurred on October 28 and November 6 last year.
Laurie was arrested in June and charged with shooting a firearm at a dwelling or house with disregard for safety, causing wounding to a person with intent to murder and discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail and is expected to reappear in Coffs Harbour courthouse on September 12.
Laurie debuted for the Tigers in 2008 and played in 20 NRL games over two seasons before joining the Panthers.
He played three top-grade games for Penrith and represented the Indigenous All Stars before he was sacked for consuming alcohol on a flight to Auckland with their NSW Cup team.
After being thrown a lifeline by the Knights, he admitted: “No other club wanted nothing to do with me.”
This year he has played for South Grafton Rebels and Lower Clarence Magpies.
