Located at 2 Charles Street, Charlestown, the residential development is an “exciting project” for GWH Build, managing director Jonathan Craig said, and believes the completed construction will be a “key location for residents in the future”.
Ground works on the apartment block are currently underway, with site offices already established. GWH is now looking to move into excavation of the three-level basement in June, and are hoping for “minimal disruptions to the neighbours” while the process continues.
“We often have up to 80 workers and people on the site at any one time, but these developments are our bread and butter after 23 years of working so we want to make sure we keep residents in Charlestown in mind for the work,” Mr Craig said.
“The whole process is not so much a challenge as an opportunity for everyone in the area so we are very much building the apartments for them and want to deliver the best that we can for other locals.”
GWH Build revealed the 60-metre tall building is expected to be completed within 14 to 18 months, and will have a range of one, two and three bedroom apartments as well as an 124 square metre commercial space on the ground floor.
Due to the unparalleled height in the block, floors will have just four apartments each, a feature the building company’s marketing manager Shannon Hutton believes will be a “major selling point” for local investors.
“As a local company we know the region, and residents, quite well at this point,” Mr Hutton said. “We wanted to make sure the designs and construction fit what people are expecting of their homes now, and that educated a lot of our designs on floor spaces. We wanted to offer a diverse range of selections.”
The Highpoint residences will be sold complete with high-quality fittings, finishes, appliances, a choice of colour palettes and optional upgrade packages. All residents will have access to the expansive garden, entertainment and barbeque area.
Mr Craig also revealed most of the company’s work will come through a vertically integrated group of companies, responsible for all elements, with a local focus from GWH Build.
“We’re one of the only local developers in town and so it’s really exciting that we can give back by doing something of this scale,” he said.
“Everything that we do in the construction through our business model looks to get other local works in from the concrete to the insulation, and windows, glazing and structural steel.
“We have a construction methodology that focus local and sets us apart from other builders in the process. Now we're just excited to get into the development and deliver the finished product.”
For those looking to potentially purchase an apartment in the Highpoint Apartments upon completion of the project, GWH Build has constructed a display suite at 143 Pacific Highway, open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 12pm to 2pm. Appointment showings are also available.
