Rosebud coach Shane Cansdell-Sherriff said his side had mixed feelings but no major injuries from their 3-0 loss to Broadmeadow.
“The goals came from set pieces, which was disappointing,” Cansdell-Sherriff said. “But they are a good side Magic, a very organised side and they have their strengths. I was happy they didn’t break us down and score goals on a break of play, which was what we were focusing on and is their strength.
“We showed some character to keep fighting and create chances at 2-0 down.
“Now that's out of the way, we can focus on the league.”
Adamstown, seventh on 14 points, hope to welcome back Robbie Turnbull and Thomas Carias-Cox from injury for Sunday’s away clash with Hamilton.
Edgeworth lost 3-2 to Hamilton in a thriller and are set to have Daniel McBreen and Will Bower sidelined for “at least a couple of weeks”.
McBreen came off with an ankle injury after half an hour, while Bower later succumbed to a groin strain.
Zane was philosophical about the Cup loss, which ended a three-year run of the Eagles making the round of 32. He rued missed chances from his side but felt Hamilton edged them in the second half.
“It’s like a bubble’s burst and it’s actually a bit of relief,” Zane said. “We want to win everything, and that’s not going to change, but it's so pressurised and we’d won something like 14 Cup games in a row here so that’s a fair effort and it can’t go on forever.”
