The Parma for a Farmer campaign is an extension of the Buy a Bale program. Participating outlets donate at least $1 from every parmigiana (parma) sold. The Wests Group Newcastle, together with schnitzel supplier Red Funnel, have pledged $2 from each parmigiana sold until September 9.
The Parma for a Farmer special is available for lunch and dinner, seven days, at Wests City, New Lambton, Mayfield, Cardiff and Nelson Bay. It’s a chicken schnitzel topped with shaved ham, napolitana sauce and shredded cheese, served with chips and salad.
“We’re asking the people of Newcastle to support this cause by ordering a Parma for a Farmer at all Wests clubs over the next four weeks. It’s our mission to give a very hefty donation to this terrific cause,” Wests Group Australia CEO Philip Gardner said. The Wests Group will also be donating a semi-trailer load of hay to Buy a Bale, valued at $9500.
The Australian Hotels Association Newcastle Hunter’s Fork to Farm campaign, which has already raised $135,000 for farming charity Rural Aid, ended last week but many venues are continuing to show their support. Those donating $2 from every parmigiana schnitzel sold throughout August include: Shaft Tavern (Friday nights only); Belmore Hotel; Swansea Hotel and Jewells Tavern. Venues donating $1 include: The Bay Hotel Motel, Bonnells Bay; Caves Coastal Bar & Bungalows; Chelmsford Hotel; Gunyah Hotel; Honeysuckle Hotel; Iron Horse Hotel and Mattara Hotel.
