The left-arm paceman completed the T20 franchise’s squad on Wednesday, just 48 hours after taking five wickets in his Sheffield Shield debut for NSW.
“I am excited to play for the Sixers this season,” the 24-year-old told Sixers media less than a fortnight out from the start of the 2018-19 tournament.
“I am most looking forward to spending time with players from different parts of Australia and the world to learn different ways to go about my training and playing routines.”
West, a former Newcastle junior representative and first grader who now plays club cricket with Mosman, featured in two Big Bash games for the Adelaide Strikers three summers ago.
The Sixers begin their upcoming campaign against the Perth Scorchers at home on December 22.
He ended up with maiden Shield match figures of 5-142 off 41 overs across two innings for the Blues against South Australia at the SCG.
Meanwhile, Belmont’s Toby Gray has helped guide ACT-NSW Country into Thursday’s under-19 National Championships decider against Queensland following a dramatic semi-final win in South Australia.
Gray, called into the squad last week, made an unbeaten 13 off eight balls on Wednesday to reach NSW Metro’s 8-273 with two deliveries left and two wickets in hand. Earlier, Charlestown’s Glenn Winsor took 3-53.
