The men's and women's squads defeated the Sydney University Lions in double headers at Lambton Pool across Saturday and Sunday.
"That's definitely the first time we've had back-to-back clean sweeps," Hunter men's coach Dan Robinson said.
"We haven't gone eight from eight before.
"It's a big thing for the club."
The Hurricanes men held their top two position on the competition ladder and broke away from the Lions, who they sat alongside at the start of round five, following 9-7 and 14-9 victories.
Hunter led 6-4 at the main break in game one and maintained that advantage by going 3-all in the second half.
In game two it was the third quarter that proved the difference for Hunter, extending an 8-6 lead with six straight goals before conceding three towards full-time.
"We weren't at our full potential yesterday [Saturday]. We lacked intensity in attack and it almost cost us," Robinson said.
"Today [Sunday] we were a lot better. We were on for three-and-a-half quarters and built a six-goal lead."
Robinson said goals were shared around but he praised the efforts of goalkeeper Chris Whitelegge as well as bench players Scott Berry, Mitch Baird and Andy Dunford.
The Hurricanes women move to fourth on the overall standings after 9-5 and 11-9 triumphs.
They were 5-2 down at half-time in game two.
Jemma Caldwell made her national league debut.
