Former rugby league star Jarryd Hayne has been committed to stand trial over aggravated sexual assault charges.

Before the committal at Newcastle local court on Wednesday, Magistrate Robert Stone granted Mr Hayne permission to leave NSW to train with an evangelical Christian ministry organisation in Perth.
Mr Hayne will stand trial in the district court over two charges of aggravated sexual assault inflicting actual bodily harm in relation to the alleged rape of a woman in the Hunter Region last September.
Police allege Mr Hayne had sex with a 26-year-old woman without her consent, knowing that she wasn't consenting, on NRL Grand Final night last year.
Magistrate Stone on Wednesday set a date of July 25 for Mr Hayne to be arraigned.
Prosecutor Hamish Fitzhardinge opposed an application for two of Mr Hayne's bail conditions - that he live at a particular Central Coast address and regularly report to a nearby police station - to be varied on the grounds of concern for community safety.
Mr Fitzhardinge said he believed the trial would "have some length" and that it would not likely take place much earlier than September, 2020.
Mr Hayne's defence representative Richard Pontello told the court his client wanted bail varied so he could complete a training course with Youth With A Mission, which required him to be in Perth.
The court heard Mr Hayne would be living in a dormitory-style shared accommodation situation with other men, about a five minute walk from the Youth With A Mission training campus.
Mr Pontello said the organisation had provided two letters to the court on Mr Hayne's behalf and had pledged to report any breaches of conditions.
Magistrate Stone described the charges against Mr Hayne as "serious", but granted the varied bail conditions, adding that Mr Hayne must not consume alcohol.
He said Mr Hayne had complied with his existing bail conditions and he was satisfied that the variation mitigated any possible risk to the community.
The former State of Origin representative will be required to live at the dormitory and attend course lectures, as well as report three times a week to a police station located about 2km away.
Mr Hayne has previously handed in his passport and his pre-existing bail conditions will continue to apply.
He remained silent as he walked a waiting car outside Newcastle Courthouse following his appearance on Wednesday.
Youth With A Mission is an international Christian mission organisation founded in 1960.
