A CHINESE national has pleaded guilty to running a sophisticated cannabis grow operation out of a house at Singleton.

Ee Ju Ang, 28, was represented by solicitor Kate Maher when she appeared in Newcastle Local Court via audio visual link from a Sydney jail on Wednesday.
Ang, through a Mandarin interpreter, pleaded guilty to a charge of knowingly taking part in the cultivation of a number of prohibited plants after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) agreed to withdraw the more serious charges of supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis, which carries a maximum of 20 years in jail, and enhanced indoor cultivation plant for commercial purpose.
Ang will next appear in Newcastle District Court on July 18 to get a sentence date later in the year.
Hunter Valley police searched Ang's home in Boundary Street, Singleton about 7am on December 7 last year.
Inside they uncovered a sophisticated cannabis grow operation, which included 177 cannabis plants and equipment used in the cultivation of cannabis.
Police said at the time of the raid that the suburban home had been converted into a hydroponic house.
Ang has been behind bars since her arrest.
