Cr Robinson compared a female councillor's appearance with "Jessie the elephant" in a council meeting last week then repeatedly called Labor deputy lord mayor Declan Clausen a "p--f" in media interviews.
The former Footy Show star also used offensive language to describe Cr Clausen and female Labor councillors in an interview with the Newcastle Herald.
Asked whether they condemned Cr Robinson's comments and would tell him to stop making inflammatory statements, Independents John Church, Kath Elliott and Andrea Rufo instead took aim at Labor's "confected outrage" over the issue.
They said Labor councillors had remained silent when Cr Church had been the "subject of abuse" at a strategic planning session in February and when Labor lord mayor Nuatali Nelmes had called Cr Elliott a "dead carcass swinging in the breeze waiting to be cut down" during a council debate.
"The Newcastle Independents do not endorse hate speech by anyone at anytime. Can Labor say the same?" the four Independents said in a media statement on Thursday.
They said Labor's anger over the comments was designed to "cover up" the issue of Cr Nelmes' appointment to a $50,000 board position at Newcastle Airport.
"Labor MP Tim Crackanthorp [sic] and Labor councillors were outraged by Cr Robinson's comments, but the extreme left of the Labor Party is only outraged when it suits them," they said.
Mr Crakanthorp posted a photo on Facebook on Wednesday from Parliament of a notice of motion he intends to present condemning Cr Robinson's "disgusting and vile behaviour" and calling on the Minister for Local Government to review the councillor code of conduct to "stamp out" offensive behaviour.
In February, Cr Church said he was the victim of "bullying" and "workplace abuse" after being labelled a "f--wit" in front of fellow councillors and senior staff at a strategic planning workshop at Nelson Bay.
"There was no attempt by the leadership to apologise or take a public stand against this kind of bullying and defamatory behaviour," Cr Church said after the words "John Church f---wit" were projected onto a large screen at the workshop.
Cr Clausen has called on Cr Robinson to quit over his comments from last week.
In 2015, Cr Robinson was the subject of an internal investigation after referring to then councillor Stephanie Posniak as "beefcake" in a council meeting.
