A MAN will face court on Thursday after police charged him with the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

Lake Macquarie detectives began investigating in September after reports the teenager had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her.
On Wednesday police arrested a 44-year-old man at a Gateshead address.
He was taken to Belmont police station and charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault of someone aged under 16 years old.
He was refused bail to face Belmont Local Court.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
