Police are investigating the cause of a fire outside a Singleton business on Thursday morning.

At about 4.20am, Fire and Rescue NSW crews responded to reports of a bin on fire near a business in John Street.
Crews from Singleton and Branxton Fire and Rescue NSW attended the scene to extinguish the bin which was causing damage to the shop front because of its proximity to the building.

According to NSW Fire & Rescue, police had no initial indication whether it was intentionally placed against the business or not.
Crews extinguished the fire but the building still suffered smoke damage internally.
Police investigations are ongoing.
