Allison, aka Soccer Mommy, hails from Nashville and attracted big interest with her acclaimed debut album Clean (2018). Colour Theory extends on her previous work's promise to deliver polished indie-pop, like an emo version of '90s dream pop band The Sundays.

Lyrically, Allison isn't hiding behind metaphors. On Bloodstream she sings of self-harm with, "Now a river runs red from my knuckles into the sink/ And there's a pale girl staring through the mirror at me." While Yellow Is The Color Of Her Eyes delves into Allison's guilt of being on tour while her mother battles a terminal illness.
Yes, Color Theory is bleak, but it's beautiful too.
