Of the 277 cases diagnosed in the district, 231 have now recovered.
Two COVID-19 patients are currently being cared for in Hunter New England hospitals, and seven are receiving Hospital in the Home support.
Public health physician David Durrheim said on Thursday that it would take at least 28 days of no COVID-19 cases - while searching "avidly" for the virus - before it could be considered eliminated.
