Since then the Brazilian national has found a unit, scored a chef's job in Darby Street and signed with Olympic ahead of Northern NSW's rescheduled National Premier League season.
Olympic coach Peter McGuinness offered Sheldon a deal after a training session last week adding depth to his 2020 squad after the recent losses of defender Reece Pettit and Japanese attacker Shinichi Kawachi.
McGuinness said Sheldon, who has previous NPL experience with Gosnells in Western Australia, would likely play the role of a wide midfielder or fullback.
"I signed him after one training session and he helps to fill a gap we had in our squad," McGuinness said.
"He's probably not you're traditional type of Brazilian player being flamboyant or skilful but he's physical, gets up and down [the park] well and he's got that previous NPL experience."
Sheldon won't feature for Olympic in Saturday's trial against Charlestown at Lisle Carr Oval having suffered a quadriceps strain.
McGuinness will reassess his new recruit's fitness next week before Olympic open their campaign against the Bears at Weston on July 12.
Olympic also have Scottish 27-year-old Anthony Marenghi and former South Cardiff, Broadmeadow and Jets Youth striker Dino Fajkovic on their books for the 13-round season.
McGuiness said Marenghi, a midfielder who spent time at several Scottish clubs including Rangers, Ayr and East Kilbride, "can see a good pass and can execute".
Match fitness will be key according to McGuiness with players only resuming contact training this week.
"We had our first XI v XI hit out the other night and the boys were stuffed after six minutes," the mentor said.
"All the boys have been working hard by themselves and since we've come back in small groups but it doesn't matter because it's not the same.
"It's going to be tough for everyone."
ROUND ONE (Sunday, July 12): Lake Macquarie v Lambton, Valentine v Broadmeadow, Edgeworth v Maitland, Charlestown v Adamstown, Weston v Olympic.
