* WEST Wallsend may secure the services of three Briggs brothers for the 2020 season.
The Noel Dent-coached Magpies, who play in the Newcastle and Hunter Community Rugby League (NHCRL) A-grade competition, were granted a clearance for Scott Briggs on Wednesday. Younger sibling Randall had already registered. They were awaiting paperwork for Isaac.
Scott played for Cessnock in last year's Newcastle RL grand final. Randall had been bound for Central. They all combined for a top-flight premiership with Macquarie in 2017.
Dent has also signed Adam Swadling.
* BRAD Tighe will now have the year off after the NHCRL team he was set to captain-coach didn't get off the ground. The former NRL player said he wants to "push towards next year with Awabakal again".
