Mr Latham, who was elected last March, made the announcement via Twitter on Friday morning.
"Moving to Newcastle next yr, which is great, because according to Stokes/Kean, it's also Koala Habitat, even along Honeysuckle foreshore," he wrote.

He did not comment further on the announcement.
Mr Latham has shown a keen interest in the area in recent months via the Newcastle Committee for Night Time Jobs and Investment.
He previously extolled the area's virtues in a tweet posted on July 3.
"If you haven't visited Newcastle please do, the beautiful water-views, heritage values, light rail mobility, great restaurants/bars, wonderful people, it's the perfect 'weekend escape' or longer stay," he wrote.
