Matthew Kelly, Helen Gregory, Anita Beaumont and Donna Page, who spearheaded the Newcastle Herald's "Your Right to Know" campaign with support from the Judith Neilson Institute, have been shortlisted for the community and regional affairs category for the Walkley Awards.
Australian Community Media chief executive officer Allen Williams said it was a superb effort in "a challenging year that began with bushfires and continued with a pandemic".
"As ACM this week joined with other regional media to highlight nationally the importance of the stories we tell for our local communities around Australia, it's wonderful to see these talented colleagues setting such a high standard," Mr Williams said.
The 65th Walkley Awards will be celebrated virtually this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, with the winners to be revealed on November 20.
