Reports from the UK suggest Jodie Whittaker will quit at the end of the next Doctor Who series.
According to one newspaper report, 38-year-old Whittaker said she intends sticking "to the traditional rule of leaving after three stints in the TARDIS, like the majority of her predecessors".
As is invariably the case, the report quoted "insiders" who said Whittaker is "keen to take on other roles".
The new series - Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks - returned with a "festive special" in the UK on January 1, featuring a new-look dalek.
The latest series of the cult sci-fi show has been impacted by COVID-19 restrictions with just eight episodes to be filmed.
Whittaker was announced as the 13th Doctor Who back in July 2017, following on from Peter Capaldi.
Capaldi also quit after three seasons as the Doctor - as did his predecessors William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Peter Davison, Sylvester McCoy and Matt Smith.
Rumours have it that Death in Paradise and My Family star Kris Marshall is in the box seat to take over the role.
Other mentioned include Martin Sheen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Tom Rosenthal, Ben Whishaw and Eddie Redmayne among others.
