Sales of motorcycles and off-highway vehicles (which includes quads and side-by-sides) for the first quarter reached 27,256, a 51.6pc lift compared with the same period in 2020.
When releasing the results the chief executive of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries Tony Weber said the big hike in sales reinforced the view that motorbikes, scooters and off-highway vehicles (OHV) reflected a growing confidence in the economy.
People were using their disposable income to either upgrade or buy a motorcycle for the first time, he said.
