Hide and seek rocks by Dubbo resident a hit with NSW Rocks Facebook group

The group, NSW Rocks, was created in May of 2017, almost four years ago, but it wasn't until last year during the COVID-19 pandemic when the initiative kicked off.

For months residents have been hiding, finding painted rocks in parks or by the river and sharing them with the Facebook group.

Some of the rocks have cultural paintings, some with messages of inspiration and others, are well, rather quirky.

On Friday Dubbo's Meg Kendall hid two rocks in West Dubbo Park, one disguised as a burger and the other as McDonald's fries.

Mrs Kendall posted a picture of the rocks, which bore an unbelievable resemblance to the actual items, to the group. Within days she had garnered more than 950 likes.

"I was not expecting so many people to react to that post," she laughed.

"It's a Facebook group called NSW Rocks where members paint rocks and hide them around for others to find. It's just a bit of fun.

"I painted the burger and chips on the rocks and left them in a park.

"They were both found by others that day."

Mrs Kendall said she can't take credit for the design as most of the ideas came from a quick Google search.

Some of Mrs Kendall's other favourites included the characters from popular kids show Bluey, Where's Wally, Elmo and one very happy avocado.
