Knights boss rejects suggestion Buderus could go as part of review

Buderus is employed full-time as the Knights' football general manager, while Seibold is coaching the club's coaches and offering support to head coach Adam O'Brien.

Gardner has revealed he will conduct a full review of the club's operations from top to bottom at the end of the season in line with past years.

"It's something we do every year and we'd be no different to the 14 other clubs in the competition trying to bridge the gap between ourselves and the top two teams," Gardner said on Monday.

"Obviously given our results so far this season, we need to evaluate where we can improve.

"Everything and everyone in the organisation from top to bottom will be reviewed."

Asked about reports high-profile figures such as Buderus and Seibold could face the sack, Gardner was emphatic.

"It couldn't be further from the truth," he said.

"Bedsy's job is not under any threat whatsoever.

"Seibs has been contracted on a part-time basis until the end of October to coach the coaches and offer support to Adam [O'Brien].

"We haven't spoken about anything beyond that at this stage but it's certainly possible he could have a role with us going forward."

The Knights finished seventh last season in O'Brien's first year in charge but they are 11^th after 10 rounds in 2021 with four wins.

They suffered their second loss to the battling Wests Tigers this season last Friday night, going down 36-18 in Brisbane.

They take on the North Queensland Cowboys, who sit behind Newcastle only on for and against, on Thursday night in Townsville.
