Campese is the Hunter Junior Rugby Union Ambassador thanks to a partnership with the McCloy Group and has spent the past two weeks visiting club training sessions.
To date, he has worked with kids from Hamilton, Wanderers, Southern Beaches, Maitland and Medowie and has also held coach the coaches sessions. More visits are planned and he will also be involved in the Steve Merrick Cup schools program.
"The kids love it and I think the dads love it even more," Hunter Junior president Kobus Hattingh said. "We hope to support our coaches and bring a new playing style to the Hunter. Get away from the bash up, run at the defence style and hopefully have a more open and spontaneous game aka the Campo style."
** Wanderers captain Ben Ham will take on University on Saturday after he was found not guilty of a late tackle in the 43-19 win over Southern Beaches. However, the Two Blues will be without Francis Ieremia. The former Samoan representative has served a five-week suspension but suffered a knee injury playing for Hunter at the Country Championships.
** Former Waratahs and Beaches hooker Bleddyn Gant helped steer Mid North Coast to the Richardson Shield at the Country titles and was named player of the tournament .
** The Hunter under-14 girls finished runner up at the State Championships. Coached by Steve Barretto, Hunter were unbeaten before going down 34-0 to Western Sydney in the final.
