Racing: Scone trainer Stephen Jones reckons Kosciuszko runner Nadaraja 'could be anything'

And when asked what impresses him about the three-year-old gelding, Jones simply says "the lot".

Jones rates Nadaraja, which clocked up a third straight win at the Upper Hunter track on Friday, as the best horse he's prepared and "gives him a great chance" for next month's Kosciuszko (1200 metres) at Randwick.

"The lot has impressed me to be honest, he's done no wrong anywhere," Jones told the Newcastle Herald.

"Even his barrier trials he won. He's always been a machine. He could be anything."

Jones, who previously had the likes of Profits and River Love in his stables, feels Nadaraja likely stands above the rest despite only debuting less than two months ago.

"I think he could easily be (the best horse I've had). Every time I think back to another one as good, I can't find them. At this stage he probably is," he said.

One of the key elements, according to Jones, are the bloodlines with Nadaraja by group 1 stallion Redoute's Choice from National Anthem.

"Obviously the breeding helps, out of a great mare by Redoute's Choice," he said.

"He's just gone from strength to strength. He thought it was all a game early, but now he's got it all together."

Nadaraja, only beaten first up, was announced as a Kosciuszko slot holder earlier this month when selected by ticket holders from Wagga Wagga.

He won't race again between now and the $1.3 million country feature on October 16, but Jones intends to travel to the Sydney track beforehand and "work on the course".

Jones says Nadaraja will "probably go for a spell" after the Kosciuszko, but thinks he could "come back bigger and better".

Meanwhile, Australian Bloodstock's confirmed Kosciuszko runner Edit went from last to first in Monday's Spring Cup at Tamworth.
