The 20-year-old wasn't able to complete either of her two routines at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre on Friday, but despite an unwanted performance she remains proud of reaching the international competition.
"I'm saddened to say that my Olympic campaign is officially over," Pickering wrote in a social media post on Sunday.
"This was not the performance I wanted to put up and I know I have so much more to give. However, I'm very proud of all my efforts to get me to the Olympic stage.
"It has been a long and hard process to get here and although It didn't end how I was hoping it would, I'm still so grateful for this amazing opportunity.
"I'm so proud to represent the Australian trampoline community and to represent Australia as a whole.
"I'm happy to be walking away from this competition with a smile. I'm taking in this entire experience and using it to fuel me for what's next. I've only just begun.
"It's not everyday you get to live out your dream of becoming an Olympian. I hope I've done little Jess proud."
Pickering was last of 16 participants, recording an overall total of 34.190. Her routines scored 17.840 and 16.350.
She also told AOC media that "Paris 2024 is right in my line of sight".
