A MAN accused of a Jesmond armed hold-up is due to face a Newcastle court on Thursday..

Police were called to Blue Gum Road at Jesmond after a man entered the business about 4.45pm, allegedly threatening a shop assistant with a gun while demanding cash.
It is alleged the man stole a sum of cash and four bottles of alcohol before leaving the store.
Its occupants at the time, two men and a male shop assistant, were not injured.
Newcastle City Police Area Command investigators began making inquiries, arresting a 24-year-old man outside a house in nearby Heaton Street a short time later following information from the public.
Police blocked off the street for a short time, reopening it about 7.15pm.

The 24-year-old was taken to Newcastle police station.
He was charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, possess unauthorised pistol, not wear fitted face covering in retail/business premises, not ensure true and accurate info provided to Service NSW, and not comply with noticed direction - COVID-19.
The man was refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court.
