Bathurst 1000 venues of concern; race fans urged to monitor for symptoms

The McPhillamy Park campground (all day Saturday and up to 7pm Sunday); The Paddock campground (all day Saturday and up to 7pm Sunday); and Harris Park, merchandise alley, inside Chase viewing area and National Motor Racing Museum (all day Saturday and up to 3pm Sunday) have all been identified as venues of concern.

A spokesperson from the Western NSW Local Health District said anyone who attended these locations during the dates and times indicated should monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and get a COVID test and isolate if symptoms develop.

"NSW Health continues to undertake comprehensive investigations related to COVID-19 cases, and any close contacts identified during those processes are contacted directly with advice and support," they said.

The spokesperson said the increased mobility of society following the easing of COVID restrictions meant further transmissions of the virus should be expected.

"As movements in and between communities increase, so too will the risk of COVID-19 transmission," they said.

"The best protection against transmission, and against serious illness in the event of transmission, is vaccination.

"Currently, more than 95 per cent of people aged 16 and over in the Western NSW Local Health District are fully vaccinated. For more information about vaccination, visit the Federal Government's COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Finder.

"Residents of Bathurst and from other NSW communities who were at the listed venues are encouraged to come forward for testing if they have any concerns, and to do so urgently if they have symptoms."
