There are 1163 COVID-19 patients in hospital, with 34 in ICU.
Hospitalisation numbers are up on yesterday, when 1124 patients were being cared for with 33 in ICU.
Of the new cases, 9754 came from positive rapid antigen tests while 5216 came from PCR testing.
The jump in patients in hospital comes as NSW paramedics take industrial action, refusing to leave their posts to fill gaps at other ambulance stations.
For 24 hours, paramedics won't move from station to station as part of a union campaign to improve emergency responder staffing and pay.
The union is pushing for an additional 1500 paramedics which it says are needed to turn around deteriorating ambulance response times.
It also wants a pandemic payment and a pay rise of more than 2.5 per cent.
NSW's population aged 16 years and over is 94.5 per cent double vaccinated, while 96 per cent have had their first COVID-19 vaccine shot.
58.4 per cent have had their third dose of vaccine.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Those aged between 12 and 15 years are 79.3 per cent double vaccinated, while 83.5 per cent have had their first dose.
Of those aged 5 to 11 years old, 48.9 per cent have had their first vaccine dose.
NSW Health will release further details of today's cases at 11am.
