While that still happens, there's now a rising trend with alcohol - wine, sprits, you name it, and they're making it.
Just this week Kylie Minogue's very own rose, the Cotes de Provence Rose, won a gold medal at the Global Rose Masters.
"GOLD!!! So proud of the KMW team," she posted to Twitter about the crew at Kylie Minogue Wines.
But Minogue, who is considered one of pop's top divas, is far from the only celebrity adding her name to a bottle of booze.
Kirk Pengilly of INXS fame has launched his own rose as a celebration of his marital bliss with seven-time world champion surfer Layne Beachley.
"When I met my wife Layne on a blind date, the likelihood of us hitting it off was slim," he explains on his KP Wine website.
"We were from completely different worlds. My livelihood was nocturnal and hers was diurnal. I worked inside and she worked outside. I drank white wine, she drank red. Then we discovered rose, something we both loved.
"Late one night, on tour with INXS, Layne asked me 'what do we have in common that will keep us together?' I answered, 'rose'. Now, nearly two decades later, I wanted to make a rose that celebrated our marital bliss."
American singer P!nk also has her own wine, Two Wolves Wine, and regularly posts photos and videos from her vineyard in Santa Ynez Valley in California.
New Zealand actor, director and producer Sam Neill, of Jurassic Park and The Dish fame, has a vineyard in the country's south island. There, he produces pinot noir, Riesling and rose.
A few years back rockers AC/DC released their own branded wine, so too did Olivia Newton-John.
But it's not just the wine label where celebrities have attached their name and fame.
