Wendy's: Australia to see at least 10 burger outlets by US giant

Famous for its iconic square hamburgers and 'frosty' thickshakes, the chain already has 7000 restaurants across the world.

But just where Wendy's is going to open is leaving burger lovers drooling with anticipation.

Wendy's is keen to "accelerate global growth" and expand its presence Down Under, Australian franchise consulting firm DC Strategy said.

It's far from the only US chain keen to expand into Australia with Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg bringing his food venture, Wahlburgers, into NSW and Queensland.

Taco Bell has 11 outlets in NSW, 13 in Queensland, eight in Victoria, and three in Western Australia.

While McDonald's has more than 970 restaurants across Australia, Burger King has 1200 and KFC has more than 710.

Wendy's was founded by Dave Thomas, who opened his restaurant in Columbus, Ohio in 1969.

Since then it's become a global success, with 1000 restaurants opening in the first 100 months of operations.

More than 50 years on DC Strategy said Wendy's remains committed to honouring Dave's legacy and core values of "quality as our recipe".

Wendy's stores can be found across the US, Europe, Asia and New Zealand.

Franchise cost to open a Wendy's starts at $1 million (AUD) and more than 10 opportunities are being advertised.
