Video: Man rams his ute into police vehicle and speeds off

The incident occurred on the Bruce Highway at Forest Glen in Queensland's Sunshine Coast, when an unmarked highway patrol car signalled for the ute to pull over.

Dramatic in-car vision provided by Queensland Police shows the ute did pull over briefly. But, as soon as officers pulled up behind in their vehicle, the ute's reversing lights came on and the vehicle drove at speed into the bonnet of the police car.

The vision then shows the ute speeding off down the road.

A body camera on a policewoman behind the wheel, shows the officer had unbuckled her seatbelt and was about to open the car door, when the ute slammed into the police vehicle.

"I intercepted him and he's deliberately reversed into the front of the car," she can be heard saying on police radio.

The incident occurred on December 12, 2022, and on Friday police were able to extradite the 59-year-old disqualified driver from the Northern Territory.

On January 30, he faced Maroochydore Magistrates Court on numerous alleged serious driving and property offences which occurred last year.

Charges include dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, serious assault police, evade police, enter premises and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, seven counts of drive whilst license disqualified and four counts of stealing.

Sunshine Coast Highway Patrol officer in charge, Senior Sergeant Shane Panoho, said "this should stand as a warning to anyone willing to commit offences in our community that we will hunt you down and bring you back to this state and hold you accountable for your actions".
