Police have released dramatic footage of an attempted armed robbery in the hope of catching the machete-wielding man involved.

The attack occurred at a tobacconist in Rockhampton, in regional Queensland, when a man ran into the shop carrying a machete and a bag just after 6.30pm on February 6.
CCTV footage released by Queensland Police shows the masked man raced towards the shop counter with his weapon held high above his head.
Officers said the man threatened two employees, a man and woman, but then fled after a chair was thrown at him.
The two employees were not injured in the incident.
"The man was wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper, white and red covering over his face, grey track pants, white shoes and carrying a green duffle-type bag," police said.
