But for some inexplicable reason, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was more than keen to dodge the photographers while he enjoyed his piece of election tradition.
"It's not going to happen," he told onlookers, whilst ducking behind a taller gentleman and his outstretched jacket. "You need to stand in front of me."

News outlets still managed to get the crucial shot.
ACM had journalists in almost every electorate in the NSW electorate, primed and ready to interview voters and candidates - and test the democracy sausages.
In Premier Dominic Perrottet's electorate of Epping, reporter Lucinda Garbutt-Young discovered a democracy sausage sizzle at every election booth she went to. She boldly declared Beecroft Public Schools democracy sausage to be the best she tried.

But over in Chris Minns' electorate of Kogarah, senior reporter Saffron Howden was having trouble locating any sausage sizzles on the Opposition Leader's big day.
"Where are all the the democracy sausages?" she messaged.
Opposition leader and journalist eventually found them, at Narwee Public School, for the obligatory picture opportunity.
Meanwhile, some electorates reported that their normal thriving trade was hampered by high pre poll voter numbers. At Medlow Public in Taylors Arm, in the North Coast electorate of Oxley, editor Sue Stephenson reported that with fewer people carrying cash, sales conditions were even tougher. The students were hoping to raise $700 each for their school trip to Canberra.
At Shoalhaven High School in the South Coast electorate, however, they had sold out of more than 20kg of sausages by 3pm on Saturday, along with plenty of cakes, as a fundraiser for teacher Josh Gersohn whose seven-month-old son Zachery has a rare genetic disorder.
