Saturday's NSW state election resulted in the Chris Minns-led Labor party securing a victory to oust Dominic Perrottet and the Liberal government from office, leaving Tasmania as the only Australian state not led by Labor.
Waking up to the news on Sunday, the state government said it would continue to put Tasmania forward.
Liberal Braddon MP Roger Jaensch said Tasmanians knew when the state was running well.
"We will put ourselves up for the judgement of the Tasmanian people at the next election," Mr Jaensch said.
"We've established a good working relationship with the new federal government and we will continue to do that.
Most Tasmanians only care that Tasmania is going well.

"We'll continue to fight for Tasmania's fair share and good deals with our Australian government so we'll take our place around the table with all the other Labor states and territories.
"Most Tasmanians only really care that Tasmania is going well and that's what we're committed to doing every day."
Tasmanian Labor spokesman Dean Winter described the resulting NSW election as "exciting" and commended Chris Minns.
"The campaign he ran has been effectively the same as what we've been talking about, so it gives us confidence we are on the right track," Mr Winter said.
"We're still focusing on our campaign we're obviously hoping to see that momentum that we're building continue to grow over the next two and a bit years into the election."

Labor Senator Helen Polley said the victory sent a message to all governments about the importance of listening and addressing community issues.
"Passionate advocacy and ensuring you are listening to the concerns of the community and their aspirations is so important," Ms Polley said.
"Tasmanian Labor is listening and focused on delivering what Tasmanians need, secure full time jobs, access to housing, access to healthcare when they need it most and energy bill relief," she said.
