Two Indonesian fishing vessels had been caught in extreme weather caused by Tropical Cyclone Ilsa.
One vessel carrying 10 crew members washed ashore at Bedwell Island, about 300km west of Broome, Western Australia, an Australian Maritime Safety Authority spokesperson said.
The other vessel with nine crew onboard sank and a sole survivor spent 30 hours in the water before also being washed ashore at the island.

The stranded men were spotted by a surveillance flight near a beached vessel and makeshift camp.
About 5pm on April 17, the ASMA coordinated a rescue effort with a helicopter taking the survivors to Broome for medical care.
