Anthony and Vasiliki Day's Springvale home caught fire on January 10 after a faulty lithium battery exploded.
Faced with no home and no pet supplies for their cat or dog, a GoFundMe launched by Mr Day said thankfully the only one at home at the time was their beloved cat, who managed to escape harm.

"Luckily, no one was injured but our lovely house is no longer livable, or lovely," he said.
"We are also very fortunate to still have our amazingly beautiful and resilient Cloudy."
"He was the only one home at the time and went from a cute black and white, to mostly black."

Photos posted online revealed the extensive kitchen damage from the fire, with holes in the walls and roof where the blaze ripped through.
The couple has been forced to send their pets to a kennel while they desperately search for a more permanent home amid mounting bills.
"We are currently on our second Airbnb in a week while searching for a permanent place to call home again," he said.
"Most of my clothes were destroyed in the blaze including all my work clothes and steel cap boots which means I can't work till I replace them," Mr Day said.
"We are currently looking to get into the rental property market, but with vet bills, kennel fees and having to buy new work clothes so that I can work to pay for the bond, we are barely surviving. "
